200,000 homes are being attacked by termites Australia wide... As you read this

The average damage bill per home varies between $4,000 to $60,000

Most activity is not discovered until it's too late... 4 years after it commenced

The cost is approximately $750 million dollars Australia wide

It's generally agreed that 80% of all homes in Australia are within 25 metres of a termite colony

Termites are on the march as the normal food source is being destroyed by land clearing. Their underground nests are untouched by bulldozers and the timber in our homes is fast becoming the only food available to them

Here are the two most common mistakes made by home owners

1. not fully reading the termite inspection report provided with home purchase

2. believing your insurance policy covers termite damage in the home

The facts about termites in Australia
A CSIRO survey in 2004 found that almost one third of homes in Australia had a history of termite activity. If it's your home, and it's gone undetected for more than 6 months, then the financial and emotional consequences may overwhelm you. Termiprobe® is the patented Australian device which can help detect and monitor termite activity in places where you cannot carry out any visual inspection.

Don't Let Termites Go Undedected

How does it happen..?
How do termites destroy homes and no one knows it's happening until it's too late?

This is how...
In nature, termites provide a vast range of wonderful services for the natural environment - removing dead wood and providing a food source for other animals.Unfortnately, your home is not part of that natural environment..! Houses that are termite infested don't fall down. Termites are able to remove enough timber for their feeding and tunneling and nesting needs. They then leave enough timber around themselves to provide protection from the elements. Termites can sense when timber is weakening.... you're the one who has to knock the house down.

Based on statistical information available

A termite colony or nest can have 100,000 termites
Pest controllers with hi tech arsenals can STILL fail to detect termite activity.
Most damage by termites is usually only detected 4 years after the attack has commenced!

But I have a new home on cleared land..!

A theoretical example of what can happen would be clearing a site for a building construction. Whether the land is heavily or lightly over-grown with trees, the trees are felled but the stumps are not removed... they're ground down to, or below, ground level... or the major root systems are left behind. Then the building is erected over the top.
What might inadvertently happen is the house is left sitting on a virtual termite timebomb!

Termite barriers
In this cleared land example, if your termite barrier is an in-ground system it would be keeping the termites in the property… not out..!

Termites can and will bridge an obstacle
The only other way to check for this activity is an inspection by a professional... but this will be a visual inspection only.

Termiprobe® can detect and monitor termite activity in places where you cannot make a visual inspection.

Research and Statistics
Much of our research and statistical information has come from the book... "Termites and Borers" A Homeowner's Guide to Detection and Control written by Phillip Hadlington and Ion Staunton and published by the University of New South Wales.

Horror Story
Just about everyone has, or knows of, a termite horror story. The national distributor of Termiprobe has his own horror story, which is why he's taken on the job of distributing Termiprobe. (click here to read his own personal story... which cost him over $60,000..!)
